Key Stage 3
All pupils receive six lessons of science teaching each fortnight in years 7 & 8 and 9 hours in year 9. ( 3 for each science subject).
In years 7 and 8 this is usually taught by one teacher in mixed ability form groups. For year 9 they will have a combination of teachers who will start to deliver the GCSE curriculum to them.
We use the Exploring Science resources, which include many differentiated activities. As well as subject content that is accessible to all students and will extend the most able, there is an emphasis on the skills needed in the modern scientific world.
For assessment, we use end of topic and year tests and common assessed tasks, enabling us to monitor the progress of the student in both subject knowledge and skills.
Science Support
Monday at 1.30pm in Lab 1
All pupils are welcome to drop in and talk to a Biology, Chemistry or Physics specialist for support with homework, a topic they have not fully understood, revision or Science specific skills.
