KS4 LATIN

Latin is optional for GCSE but essential if considering Latin A Level.

The course followed is EQUAS WJEC http://www.eduqas.co.uk/qualifications/latin/

The Latin GCSE currently consists of three papers:

One language and grammar paper = 50% of overall mark

One Literature module (THEMES)  2024-2026 = Love and Marriage. 2027-2029 = Heroes and Villains = 30% of overall mark.

One civilisation module: 2024-2026 = Roman Family Life
                                             2027-2029 = Slavery in the Roman World

The aim of the course is to develop students' language skills and to learn more about aspects of Roman culture and civilisation by studying a range of selected artefacts or texts from Roman authors. 

Students develop highly transferable skills such as source analysis , literature analysis and evaluation. 

Students have six lessons per fortnight in Year 10 and 5 in Year 11.
