Introducing our new Head and Deputy Head Students

Following a recent lengthy and rigorous selection process, Zara-Jayne has been successful in securing the role of Head Student along with fellow year 12s, Yomola & Grace, who have been chosen as Deputies.

The girls were up against a lot of competition with many students applying.  After an initial stage of questions, all applicants were involved in a group activity where they could demonstrate their planning skills and ability to work with peers.  Applicants were then shortlisted and underwent an individual interview with Headmistress, Mrs Anderson.

Head girl, Zara-Jayne, commented, “I applied because I care deeply about our school and wanted to make a real impact.  Being selected as Head Student is an honour and I’m determined to make the most of this opportunity.”

Yomola is a new student to SHS and was equally thrilled to be selected as one of the Deputy Head Students alongside Grace.  “I was very happy to be selected for an interview and then ecstatic about being selected as a Deputy, I felt it meant that I had displayed my key values well.  I have found the school very welcoming and well-structured, helping to make my transition seamless, which I am extremely thankful for.”

Grace added, “I enjoy getting involved in projects to bring about changes and improvement for the entire school community.  I am extremely happy to take on a leading role within the Sixth Form and the team and I am excited to see what we can achieve over the next year.”
