Ed the Bear comes to visit

Our Year 8 students received a visit from representatives of their chosen charity, Don't Lose Hope.

During their assembly this week, our Year 8 students were treated to a visit from Don't Lose Hope's, Ed the Bear!

Ed and other members of the local charity paid a visit to talk about the work that they do.  Don’t Lose Hope is a charity that offers a professional counselling service for all members of the community from age 4 upwards. This is a free service for families and individuals receiving certain state benefits but is also made affordable for others who may not be in receipt of benefits.  Delivered by a team of qualified and experienced counsellors, the charity helps many people from all walks of life and of all ages.

The emphasis of this week's assembly was to remind our students that it is not a sign of weakness to ask for help but that it is indeed a sign of resilience. The team also discussed with the Year 8s their participation in their upcoming Challenge100, when our students will be raising money for Don't Lose Hope as their chosen charity.  The challenge will take part in school on 27th November during Private Study and students have been tasked with completing 100 of something, either individually or as a team.  We are looking forward to hearing all sorts of ideas for their fundraising.

Don't Lose Hope relies on fundraising to ensure they can maintain this service, so an event like this is especially important to them.  We look forward to seeing the results.
