Key Stage 3 German

The students in Year 7 to Year 9 learn German using the 'Stimmt!' course.  Each student has her own text book which is supplemented by work sheets, authentic articles and texts.  Students currently have 6 lessons per fortnight in Year 8 and 4 lessons per fortnight in the Year 9 beginners class.

In Year 7 - Stimmt 1 - the students cover the following topics:

My World and I
Family and Pets
Leisure activities, modern technology and friends
School
Holidays, shopping, food and drink.

In Year 8 - Stimmt 2 - the students cover the following topics:

Activities and problems on holiday, weather
Media preferences - reading, television, technology
Healthy lifestyle
Daily routine, school trips and festivals
Fashion.

In Year 9 - Stimmt 3 - the students cover the following topics:

Role models
Music
Plans for the future
Childhood memories
Citizenship

At the end of each topic the students are assessed in two out of the four skill areas - listening, speaking, reading, writing.  They are awarded a level and analyse what went well and how they can progress to the next level.  The levels for each assessment are recorded by staff and students and are, therefore, accessible to both the student and her parents/carers.

Grammar practice can be found on the lesson resources drive and so is accessible to all students.
