Most people not only enjoy Geography; they are good at it!
We all have skills which can be strengthened through the study of this wide-ranging subject. Where else could you explore topics from volcanoes to climate change; from mining in the Amazon to the global tourism industry? How else could you develop your ability to make decisions that matter, that affect people’s lives, that will even encourage you to enjoy watching the news?
The AQA GCSE Geography B specification covers both physical and human topics, with strong links to global citizenship and the understanding of human systems in different parts of the world. This is a relevant, dynamic and stimulating course that considers new ideas and developments about the changing nature of geography in the 21st century. It is largely assessed by examinations (75% of overall grade) with a controlled assessment module (25%) involving fieldwork, often a highlight of the course, and individual research into a geographical issue.
Not only is Geography an exciting academic subject to study, but it is also a particularly valuable foundation for any career, developing individual skills which are highly sought after by employers.
